"and there were so many fewer questions, when stars were just the holes to heaven"--jack johnson
hey,
don't be sad because i didn't get a chance to update yesterday...lol
thursday night was sort of a bumm night, i was really homesick that night...and i have obviously adopted serious insomniac tendencies along with my entire new york family..so i don't think i've gone to sleep before 3am since tues night...yeah, that's pretty awesome.
anyways, friday morning i was woken up by a phone call from my mom..she said she had a surprise...it was that andy is coming up here on THURSDAY!! i am so very excited!! and after almost 8 hours of looking for cheap hotels, not counting the 2 i went to go look at, we found one! yay!
anywhooooo, mark, matt and i had NBC intern orientation on friday, and when we got there we had to meet someone and introduce them to the group, i met this guy named nelson who works with conan in the scripts dept with mark...apparently he's working for NBC but not in school, which is apparently something not many people know about (you are supposed to be getting class credit...but whatever)...it was interesting, learned about the company some and how to make the best of our time there, the intern manager makes herself available to check out resumes and do mock interviews, and also let us know a little bit about networking too. it was actually pretty helpful..
after that, mark and i went to get some lunch at mcdonalds..i say lunch it was almost 4pm. came back, and...why am i drawing a blank about what i did between that and dinner? i think i looked for hotels that's why, oh yeah, amanda, lauren and i went to get movie tickets for a sneak preview of "shaun of the dead" and then lauren and i went to connally's to get some dinner...the food is SOOO good and not unreasonably priced for where the locale is..it was pretty loud, but we had a good conversation anyways...she's like my new BFF ("besties"! haha, just kidding lauren!) then we came back and went to the movie...i hadn't seen any previews for it but i was being social, anyways, it was a pretty good movie, it had several elements that every movie should have, a little horror, a little drama, a little comedy, a little romance...it was a british film and it was great...i'm so careful about the movies i see here b/c the tickets are $10.50..and i don't want to waste my money on crappy movies..anyways, it was worth it...then just came back here and looked for hotels again...no luck, then didnt' get to bed until like 430am...bleh
i actually woke up to the sound of thunder this morning around 8am...it was weird b/c texas thunderstorms are so soothing to me and just make me want to cuddle in bed forever...this was cool, just a little more scary...anyways, we had an architectural walk we were supposed to go on, but at 1030 i woke up to check email and joe had emailed to say it was cancelled..yay! more sleep time...anyway, i went back to bed until about noon...and looked for more hotels, i called around and finally found one that sounded decent...about 5 hours later, we were ready to start our day..(ok it's 5pm right now) so kenzie, matt, lauren & i went to Tiffany's & co...and it was SOOO Cold outside..liek 59 !!! i have NOO winter clothes!!! :( so all i had on was a tank top and the only sweater i have, which is cotton..and jeans..soo cold...Tiffany's was cool, I mean maybe it was because we only had 10 minutes to browse, but when we went to the engagement ring section, i was amazed by how the whole place sparkled, but i wasn't like hey, that's an AMAZING ring (well except for the pink diamond in platinum diamond band...besides the point, it was probbaly the price of J.Lo's)...and also, they didnt' even have princess cut diamonds, ..and they call themselves a JEWELRY store! ;) just kidding...anyway.....we went to go check out the hotel i saw and it looked like it would do, good local, decent price, etc. etc...and came home.
a bunch of peopel were going to dinner, but lauren & i decided we didn't want to go all over new york tonight (hellooo it's cold! lol) and met mark on the corner, and we ended up going to Chevy's, this mexican restaurant on 42nd st. i was a little wary because iv'e heard not good things about the mexcian food here...welll...it wasn't bad...i had enchiladas, i've had better, but i wasn't disappointed..maybe just in the price, but that's to be expected...anyways..mark rented a bunch of movies and so maraton movie night it is
peace out my playas
